The Heritage

Responding to Urban American's desire to reposition Schomburg Towers on Fifth Avenue and 110th street from that of a publicly subsidized housing project to a market-priced rental complex, our design focused on improving the resident's experience from the street, through the lobby to the front door of their apartment.

Upon entering either of the two new open-planned lobbies, residents and visitors are welcomed by a concierge desk, and directed to the tower elevators. Both tower lobbies have been expanded and visually opened to the exterior to enjoy full views of Fifth Avenue and Central Park. The opened lobbies also relate contextually with the new museum's entrance plaza across 110th Street and allow for maximum visibility of the Schomburg Towers site.
