1221 Avenue of the Americas Plaza

Retained to prepare alternative designs for the sunken plaza at 1221 Avenue of the Americas, three alternative designs were developed, each incorporating a water feature and pedestrian and café seating as well as South African-American geophysicist and oceanographer Athelstan Spilhaus’ triangle sculpture, arranged so the Sun aligns with its sides at solstices and equinoxes.
